Next year will be the third year that I run the Louisiana Half in Baton Rouge. The first year was just a run. I ran with a friend at a friendly pace. This year the goal was to PR and I did with a 1:39:09. My goal next year is also to PR. But the real question is by how much?
I have been running most of the summer at around 15 to 20 miles per week in the 8:30 to 9:00 per mile range. The race is currently +22 weeks out so there is a lot of time to train. But last year there were a few guys that were similar speed as me that were interested in training with me. I find running in group helps to motivate. I am not sure if those guys want to train again. I know one of the fell way off the wagon in the middle of training and has only recently gotten somewhat back on. We also had access to the track but they have plugged the holes in the fence. I also looked back at my training from last year an saw that I had been running track workout in August and July! I have done none of that this year!
My plan. I am going to layout my training as I did last year and see if I can get someone to come along to push me along. I am going to see if I actually have to time to keep track of the training. We shall see.
Running Away from Me
This blog was greated mainly so that when I post comment on other blogs people can see who I am. I don't think I have the knack for writing things people want to read.

One Week Down
So I made the training plan, but ran nothing like what it was supposed to be. The training plan was for some hill repeats, Fartlek, and some runs. What I did was some 400s at 1:20s and 800s in low 3:05 on the track (Smoked it). Some mile repeats at 7:05, 7:03, 8:33 pace. And a long run of 7 miles at 9:00 pace. I did get in some weights. So it was a total of almost 17 miles.
I have more of the same planned for this week but I have stared off with two BLANKS in the morning. I did manage 3 miles yesterday evening. I guess I will make a long one or something on Thursday, a run on Friday, and not sure about Saturday. I might have to make a run on Sunday just to get some miles.
I have a plan but don't see that it is remotely being followed. I think I need to go back to the drawing board.

3 x 800M at the Track
Untitled by koonarse at Garmin Connect - Details
WOW is all that I can say about my track work. I have never run this fast for 800s. 3:06 / 3:00 / 3:09. Not sure if it is that I am lighter, been going to Boot Camp twice a week, or just because. It is HOT and HUMID so I can imagine what I would run if it was not. Training for the Louisiana Half will start next month...

Track Work Out 6 x 400m
Untitled by koonarse at Garmin Connect - Details
I went to the track this morning. It was nice and humid. We completed 6 x 400m with a range 1:29 to 1:23. It is amazing how 5 seconds feels like the difference between just making it around and really pushing it around. Last week I ranged in the 1:27 ish rate with a 1:23 fast. I hit 1:23 twice this week.
I need to establish a training plan for the Louisiana 1/2 Marathon.

Saturday Run
Untitled by koonarse at Garmin Connect - Details
This is the first run on a Saturday in a while that was over 6 miles or better yet, a run on Saturday. It was the first time I have run this way. I was on my feet for close to 1:20 for 8.5 miles. It was not too hot and a very nice day. For the week I ran a total of 25 miles in four runs. The best one was my Tuesday run for 7 miles. I was able to keep up with the front of the group to the park and not feel bad. I am going to attempt it again Tuesday.
